Buffalo Bills Night Out

For the third straight year, we took a group of our students to the Buffalo Athletes In Action’s Night Out with the Buffalo Bills. Our guys help do crowd control during the autograph session.

The night features two distinct sections. The first hour the players and their wives are interviewed by Fred Raines, the AIA Chaplain for the Bills, about their faith, their marriages, and life in the NFL. There were about 500 inner city youth and their parents in the large auditorium in downtown Buffalo.

This first hour concludes with one of the players giving his personal faith story and then offering a prayer for the audience to pray to receive Christ. Kyle Williams, a pro-bowl defensive tackle, did an outstanding job with this section.

During the second hour, the players move into a large gymnasium and sign autographs. Our guys got to meet and hang out with the Bills players for about 10 minutes before the autograph session started.

I believe this is a life changing night for our students. They get to see professional athletes putting Christ first in their lives and encouraging others to do the same. People look to these players as heroes, but these particular Buffalo Bills players were clear to point people to the real hero, Jesus Christ!
